I am just a person like you. I need sleep, food, water, and air to continue living. I thought pterosaurs were dinosaurs for a long time, but it turns out they are not.

I’ve been with Creative Centre Society since 1994, starting with working in our two Clubhouses providing recreation and craft programs, then moving in late 1997 to working in the Chilliwack community as a Mental Health Worker.   My background is in Education and Psychology, having completed degrees in both areas.  My favourite thing in working with my clients is facilitating problem solving, and watching their own skills grow in managing any issues that crop up in their day to day lives.  In my spare time I teach competitive dog sport classes and volunteer teach an active kids dog training program.

Since 2018 I have engaged in various support roles facilitating peer-based support groups, leading psychoeducational skills groups, and performing crisis intervention.  Aside from applying psychological and philosophical theory to research, my training has included basic counseling skills, dialectical behaviour therapy, intimate partner violence, trauma-informed practice, and supporting families with familial mental illness, addiction and incarceration with an Indigenous focus.  When I am not working or pursuing my education; I enjoy spending time with my family, going on road trips, practicing mindfulness, and playing games like Dungeons & Dragons.

My role is to work alongside clients, while supporting them to achieve their personalized wellness goals. I have both the lived experience and formal education in the mental health field, which enables me to quickly connect and build trusting relationships with those whom I work with.  I am very passionate about psychology and holistic wellness and have published a book about my endeavours to overcome the effects of trauma and mental illness. When I’m not working, I am spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy camping, off-roading in the Jeep, writing/blogging, and dancing like no one is watching.

I have been working in the mental health industry for over 10 years. I live with my own mental illness and use this lived experience as a way to connect with clients and to have a deeper understanding of what our clients might be going through. My positive optimistic personality is contagious and I am someone who clients love to work with. When not working I love to spend time with my family in nature hugging trees and looking for treasures at the ocean.
