About Us

Delivering Truly Positive Outcomes
Through A Holistic Approach Guided By Personal Growth, Patience And Kindness.

Creative Centre Society for Mental Wellness was established in 1979, in response to the deinstitutionalization of patients from Riverview Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam, BC. Many previous Riverview patients were left without the necessary social, recreational, or work programs to assist them with reintegrating into their community. Along with a number of other non-profit organizations throughout the region, Creative Centre Society for Mental Wellness was formed to meet these needs—supporting community access, integration, and equal opportunities.

In 1990, our society purchased Nelson Place, an 8-unit apartment building in Abbotsford and began to provide greatly needed accommodation from individuals with mental illness. In the early 1990s, the society also purchased two properties: one in Chilliwack to establish Cheamview Clubhouse and one in Abbotsford to establish Abby House clubhouse.

In 2009, the society partnered with Chilliwack Community Services to offer affordable housing to our clients in a building aptly named The Village, using modular housing from the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, BC. With this new project, the society was able to add another 22 units of affordable housing for mental health clients to our portfolio.
